Munster have been beaten by Racing 92 in their Champions Cup Semi Final tie.

First blood went to Racing with the opening try inside five minutes through Teddy Thomas with the conversion being landed from the sideline to send them 7-0 ahead.

Munster hit back with a penalty but Thomas touched down in almost identical position just minutes later with the added points putting them 14-3 clear after the opening quarter.

Machenued then touched down after he was handed the ball by Thomas who had already crossed the line and suddenly when the conversion went over Munster trailed by 21-3.

The French men slotted a penalty soon after to stretch further clear and despite sustained Munster pressure in the closing stages of the first half, the teams headed for the dressing rooms with Racing 24-3 ahead.

Racing opened the second half scoring with a penalty to go 24 points clear, but then the Reds hit back.

Simon Zebo was introduced from the bench and it was the Cork man who touched down after a sustained period of attacking the Racing line.

JJ Hanrahan failed to add the extras and it left the scoreline reading Racing 27 Munster 8 with 15 minutes left to play.

Robin Copeland and Andrew Conway crossed for late tries for the Reds but it was far too little too late as the French side ran out winners by 27-22 to set up a final showdown against Leinster in Bilbao.
