Athlone Town says they are “shocked” by allegations of match fixing.

It was announced yesterday that the FAI has launched an investigation into the Midlanders conduct after irregular betting patterns were highlighted in last week’s First Division defeat to Longford.

In a statement Athlone says they will be fully co-operating with those conducting the investigation, and look forward to meeting with FAI officials next week.

On the field last night, Juventus won 2-0 away to Monaco in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.
