Massive Day Of Clare Club Hurling Action In Store

It’s a massive day in the Clare Senior Hurling Championship with three Quarter Final ties down for decision.

Cusack Park hosts a triple header of action with six teams all holding hopes of moving one step closer to this years showpiece event.

The first of those games gets underway at 2.45pm as Eire Óg go up against Clooney/Quin.

Clooney coach Fergie O’Loughlin says they’re looking forward to it.

At 4.15pm, neighbours Sixmilebridge and Cratloe do battle for the second time in three years at the quarter final stage.

The Bridge were last crowned champions in 2015 while Cratloe took home both the Canon Hamilton and Jack Daly 12 months previously.

Cratloe boss Alan Neville is hopeful the newer members of their squad can continue their development

The days action rounds off at 6pm with holders Ballyea and Newmarket squaring off for a second year in a row.

They met in the second round of the 2016 championship, when victory for Ballyea sparked a run that ended in Croke Park, while Newmarket eventually secured their senior status after a replay win over Kilmaley in the relegation final.

Ballyea boss Fergal Hegarty says they don’t feel any extra pressure as defending champions.
