Clare recovered from a second half deficit to match Kilkenny, but missed two late chances to steal a win.

It was the Banner who came out strongest in the first half as Shane O’Donnell and Ryan Taylor both hit the back of the Kilkenny net to help them to a three point half time lead.

A slow start in the second half saw them fall behind, however as Tony Kelly’s three points were the only scores for Clare in half an hour.

It looked like it was to be Kilkenny’s day until Shane O’Donnell evaded the Cat’s defence to register his second goal of the day.

The sides were tied and Clare hunted a winner but efforts from David McInerney and Tony Kelly to get a winner went astray.

With the final play of the game Eoin Cody got behind the Clare backs and was left one-on-one with Donal Tuohy – but it was the Crusheen clubman saving the shot to secure a point from the game for Lohan’s side.
