Clare scored four unanswered points in the second half until Armagh’s Andrew Murnin struck the back of the Clare net to keep the Banner in check.

With the sides tied approaching full time, Eimhin Courtney was pulled down in front of the Armagh goals and David Tubridy buried the resulting penalty to leave them with a four point lead with five minutes of normal time left on the clock.

However, Armagh equalised with a goal of their own and a shocked Clare side struggled to arrest the string of points scored to extend their deficit.

Full time score in the Athletic Grounds was Clare 1-15, Armagh 2-16.
