Kilkee Facing Relegation Scrap In Clare SFC

8 time champions Kilkee are in danger of relegation from the Clare SFC.

It’s after they suffered defeat to Ennistymon in their losers round tie, going down by 2-13 to 0-8.

The North Clare men got off to the perfect start with a Sean McConigley goal inside the opening minutes, with a brace of points from Joey Rouine and one from Michael McDonagh seeing them 1-3 to 0-1 clear after 10 minutes with Gearoid Lynch getting the Blues off the mark.

Ennistymon continued their dominance with three more points to stretch 1-6 to 0-1 ahead midway through the half, with further scores Joey and Danny Rouine.

At half time the scoreboard read Ennistymon 1-8 Kilkee 0-4 with Gearoid Lynch Diarmuid Keane and Evan Garvey adding scores for the Seasiders while Joey Rouine kept the scoreboard ticking over for the North Clare Magpies.

Danny Rouine and Michael O’Loughlin stretched the Ennistymon lead even further after the restart, to see them 1-10 to 0-4 clear.

Ennistymon continued to dominate and put the icing on the cake 10 minutes from time when Danny Rouine slammed home a second goal to leave them ahead by 2-11 to 0-6.

The full time score of Ennistymon 2-13 to 0-8 sees the North Clare men through to the playoff round while Kilkee are facing a relegation semi final.
