Feakle v Bodyke

It’s less than 7 miles from Feakle to Bodyke but there was nothing to separate these 2 sides as an East Clare derby served up a 2-11 to 2-11 draw in Scariff.

Feakle started brightly through Raymond Bane and had opened up a 2 point lead after ten minutes but had a chronic in ability to clear their lines and Bodyke had form in the forwards to capitalise.

But it was fortune that facilitated their comeback and Ger O’Halloran’s side lead by 2 clear goals at half time, both the result of goal keeping errors.

Ronan McGuinness batted the ball to a grateful Colm Madden for the first and let a long range free go past him for the 2nd.

Feakle would have felt the scoreline looked unfair at half time but addressed that issue in style after the restart.

They rattled off 2-3 without reply inside 12 minutes as Midfield got right on top with Gerard Hanrahan to the fore, the Full forward line held up possession and Colm Naughton and Steven Moloney struck fine goals en route to a 9 point turnaround.

Nerves hit both sides and while Keith Quigley did his bit to bring Bodyke to Parity up to the 63rd minute Bodyke will reflect on 3 wides on the trot that could have earned them the 2 points on offer.
