Clare’s key goal scorer Mark Rodgers had a couple of attempts blocked on the line, but he eventually found the back of the Limerick net in the 28th minute.

There was just enough time for Limerick to navigate the field and raise the green flag on the other end of the pitch on the cusp of half time to leave the score on Clare 1-8 to Limerick’s 1-6 after thirty minutes.

The sides traded scores at the beginning of the second half until Limerick brought themselves into the lead for the first time.

Their lead was short lived, however as Shane Meehan excellently played the ball to Mark Rodgers, who buried the sliotar with ease to register his seventh Championship goal to return Clare to a two point lead.

Limerick recovered the deficit again and it was a point from them in the fourth minute of injury time to break the deadlock and give them a one point win.

Final score in Cusack Park was Limerick 1-21, Clare 2-17.
