Clare’s O’Connor Narrowly Beaten At Cheltenham Festival

Clare’s Derek O’Connor narrowly failed to claim another win at the Cheltenham Festival.

The Tubber man was aboard 16/1 shot Pendra in the Kim Muir Challenge Cup, and lead over the final fence.

He looked a winner until the closing stages when Doomsday Book rallied late on to cross the line in front.

Elsewhere it’s been a day to remember for Willie Mullins and Ruby Walsh at Cheltenham.

They’ve combined for victory in four races with 10-to-1 chance Nichols Canyon claiming the Stayers Hurdle, Let’s Dance claimed the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at a price of 11-to-8, 7-to-4 favourite Un de Sceaux won in the Ryanair Chase while 6-to-4 favourite Yorkhill got the day off to a winning start for the pair.
