Hayes: Newmarket Must Be Ruthless In FAI Junior Cup Semi Final

One of Newmarket Celtic’s key men feels they have to take every goal scoring chance they create in Sunday’s FAI Junior Cup Semi Final.

They will be looking to bridge a 28 year gap since a Clare team last reached the decider of the National competition with Pike Rovers providing the opposition in the last four tie.

Liam Murphy’s side came through their quarter final clash with Mervue in a penalty shootout having come from 3-1 down in normal time.

Junior international Eoin Hayes says while they are carving out plenty chances in games, they have to be ruthless in front of goal if they are to take their spot in the final at the Aviva Stadium.

Kickoff in Limerick on Sunday is at 2pm

Meanwhile Newmarket have been given a bye to the first round proper of the FAI Senior Cup as a result of their progression in the Junior competition.

It could see them come up against League of Ireland opposition with the draws set to be made after the qualifying round at the end of the month.
