Leah and Eimear Going for Gold
All eyes will be on Moycullen this Sunday October 6th, as Tuamgraney’s Leah Minogue and Kilkishen’s Eimear Murphy compete in the 60 x 30 Girls’ Under 15 Doubles’ All Ireland Final. Both girls have had a phenomenal year already with Eimear reaching the 40 x 20 Girls’ Under 15 Singles All Ireland Final in April.
Leah won the All Ireland Under 16 Doubles championship alongside Chloe Philpott last April. The Banner pair will face stiff opposition in Lauren Power and Nathania Jackson of Kilkenny.
60 x 30 Munster Colleges Finals
Chloe Philpott bounced back from defeat last week to help St Joseph’s Secondary School claim a historic double on Friday night in Hospital, Co. Limerick. Chloe captured the Girls’ Junior Singles title against Sarah Mason, Castleisland Community College.
In the Girls’ Junior Doubles Jennifer Nicholas and Áine Lenihan completed the double for St Joseph’s by defeating Christine Perry and Emma Williams, St Mary’s Secondary School, Nenagh.
Clooney B Start Div 2 in Style
There was some great action in the first round of the Clare 40 X 20 Division 2 Leagues on Wednesday September 25th. The pick of the ties was the battle of Clooney A versus Clooney B. Clooney A featured Pa Clune, Ryan O’Neill, Conor Clune and Darren O’Neill. Clooney B featured Cian Keogh, Dara Keogh, Paschal Brooks and Kevin O’Brien.
The addition, this year, of the Keogh brothers has really boosted the Clooney B side. In the end it was the youthful pair who led Clooney B to victory on an overall score of 76-67. In Tuamgraney it was the home team who took the spoils against Newmarket on Fergus and the third tie between Kilishen and Clarecastle has been refixed for Monday September 30.
