Five Clare Contenders For GAA Handball All-Star Awards

The GAA Handball All-Star Awards take place in Croke Park this evening with Clare in the running in five categories.

Tuamgraney’s Diarmaid Nash is nominated for Male Player of the Year and he’ll be up against Dublin’s Eoin Kennedy, Westmeath’s Robbie McCarthy and Galway’s Martin Mulkerrins.

His clubmate Mark Rodgers and Kilkishen’s Chloe Philpott are both in contention for the Young Male and Female Player of the Year award respectively.

In last night’s domestic action, Glenn Murray defeated Sean Murphy 21-10 21-6 in the Men’s Junior B singles semi-final.

This evening, there are three contests in the Boys under 17 preliminaries.

Starting at 6pm in Kilkishen, Adam Murray takes on Cathal McKenna, before Colm Cleary meets Tomas Minogue.

At 7pm in Tuamgraney, it’s Gearóid Sheedy versus Seán Whytcombe.
