John Rahm Wins Irish Open To Conclude Memorable Week For Lahinch and Clare

Spain’s John Rahm went on the rampage over the final two days of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open to win his second title.

The 2017 champion gave himself an outside chance with a round of 64 on Saturday but that was only an appetiser for his Sunday performance.

Despite conceding two bogies, he went around Lahinch in just 62 shots to finish on 16 under par, enough to take a two-stroke victory.

England’s Andy Sullivan and Austria’s Bernd Weisberger were tied for second on 14 under – both hitting rounds of 66.

Overnight leader Robert Rock had a par round to stay on 13 under in joint fourth with Rafa Carbera Bello and Eddie Pepperell.

The Irish challenge was led by Cormac Sharvin who finished with a round of 70 to end up on nine under par.

Robin Dawson was next even though he dropped one shot in Sunday’s play to finish on six under.

Shane Lowry’s score was four under par, Padraig Harrington one under and Seamus Power on one over.

But on a successful and memorable week for the people of Lahinch and west Clare, it was the pre-tournament favourite John Rahm who reigned supreme.
