The concession of frees in last night’s National Hurling League encounter in Pairc Ui Rinn was costly for Clare as they suffered their second National Hurling League defeat.
Patrick Horgan converted 15 placed balls to ensure Cork a 1-20 to 0-20 victory and condemn the Banner to bottom of the table.
The Rebels scored only 1-4 from play while Clare struck 16 open points. But the work was undone by fouls committed the other end.
