New Delegates But Executive Remains The Same At Clare GAA Convention

There’s no change at the top table following last night’s Clare GAA Annual Convention in the Auburn Lodge Hotel.

Joe Cooney remains chairman but elections did determine delegates at provincial and national level.

The expected contest for vice-chairman didn’t materialise as PJ McGuane retained his position following the withdrawals of Neil O’Brien and John Fawl.

Simon Moroney is the new Ard Comhairle representative while Fawl will join Kieran Keating in the Munster Council.

And the three delegates for Annual Congress will be Ger Hickey, Keating and Michael O’Connor.

A Tulla motion to ensure the host club 20% of fees paid in GAA summer camps will go before Central Council but their proposal to sell the administrative base in Clareabbey was defeated.

Players over 40 can’t automatically regrade to a club’s lowest team, and County Board delegates won’t be subjected to a maximum five year rule.

But the floor did decide to scrap allowing penalty shoot-outs decide championship games.

This is Darren Kelly for Clare FM sport.
