Two moments of class from Roisin Considine and Niamh O’Dea ensured James Murrihy’s charges the result against a spirited Limerick effort.

Mairead Kavanagh opened for the Shannonsiders as the Banner started to build their 11 wide tally.  But after Niamh O’Dea and Fidelma Marrinan overturned the deficit, Roisin Considine rattled the net on 15 minutes making it 1-2 to 0-1.

Clare stretched that advantage to 1-6 to 0-3 as Niamh O’Dea, Catriona Callinan and Grainne Ryan converted but they suffered a blow before half-time.  Catriona Davis’ delivery trickled past Ciara Harvey for a Limerick goal

The interval score was 1-6 to 1-4 but within five minutes after the restart, Clare restored the margin through Niamh O’Dea’s second goal.  Substitute Tara Kelly and Niamh O’Dea made it 2-8 to 1-4 entering the final quarter.

Limerick kept the scoreboard ticking as Eimear Ryan, Rebekah Daly and Orlaith O’Donoghue found the target.  But with Niamh O’Dea adding a brace after a Roisin Considine minor, Clare had ensured the win.

Tipperary await in the Munster Final in two weeks and Clare will need a significant improvement to avoid defeat to the All-Ireland favourites.
