St. Breckans’ captain insists they proved they could match Kerry opposition despite their nine-point loss in the Munster intermediate football final.

Templenoe pulled clear in the second half to run out 0-14 to 0-5 winners in Mallow yesterday.

Only two points separated the sides at half-time but when midfielder Liam Tierney received a red card on the three quarter mark, it effectively ended the Lisdoonvarna side’s chances.

Alan Sweeney tells Clare FM’s Syl O’Connor that was a key moment.

Clondegad’s provincial ambitions also concluded yesterday as Kerry’s Scartaglen beat them 2-12 to 1-7 in the Junior B quarter-final.
