Kilkishen/Bodyke 2-7 Inagh Kilnamona 1-16

Kilkishen/Bodyke looked like causing an upset in Fr McNamara Park and had the 2018 Champions on the rack for the first twenty minutes. However, Inagh Kilnamona composed themselves and ran out winners by 1-16 to 2-7.

Kilkishen/Bodyke started the game strong with a brace of points from Kate Lynch before Niamh O’Gorman drove through the Inagh Kilnamona defence and finished strongly to the back of the net, with her sister Kate following up with a brace of points.

At the other end Roisin Minogue, Alannah Ryan and Ava Quigley were thwarting the Inagh Kilnamona attack, and there were twenty minutes on the clock when Andrea O’Keeffe pointed to open the title holders tally.

Lynch added from play for the amalgamated side before the O’Keeffe twins and Aoibhin Ryan found the black spot with accuracy to leave the half time score Kilkishen/Bodyke 1-5 Inagh Kilnamona 0-5.

The second half started with an exchange of points from both sides. Kilkishen/Bodyke were unlucky with two goal chances by Niamh O’Gorman and Orla O’Brien denied by Rebecca Keating. Kilkishen/Bodyke made their first player change with Cara Close replacing Niamh O’Gorman in the forward line.

Points from Patricia Coote, Teresa O’Keeffe and Ryan had the sides level before Kate O’Gorman edged the amalgamation back in front. In a cat and mouse affair Andrea O’Keeffe levelled matters from play before an Amy Keating free put Inagh Kilnamona ahead for the first time with forty-two minutes on the clock.

Kilkishen/Bodyke responded through Kate O’Gorman to see the sides tied up again. Inagh Kilnamona finally gained a foothold in the game over the next ten minutes as points from Teresa O’Keeffe, Fiona Lafferty and Keating were followed by a goal from Hazel O’Connor to put some distance between the sides.
