Disappointment for Clare Minors in All-Ireland Camogie Final

All-Ireland Minor Camogie Final – Saturday, 27th April 2019

Cork 3-15 Clare 2-12

It was heartache for Clare’s minor camogie team as a Cork blitz in the opening 30 minutes ultimately decided this All-Ireland Final.

With the wind, the defending champions laid siege to their opponents taking a 3-11 to 0-3 lead at half-time.

Ellen Murphy got a touch for Cork’s first goal before 10 minutes.  And Emma Murphy added two green flags giving Cork a 17-point cushion.

Lorna McNamara got the three Clare points but they didn’t throw in the towel and came out strong after the restart.

Lorna McNamara, Sinead McGee and Caoimhe Kelly were all on target and Robyn Conway’s goal reduced arrears to 3-11 to 1-7 on 40 minutes.

However, Clare couldn’t maintain the momentum even with Caoimhe Kelly and Lorna McNamara keeping the scoreboard ticking and four Cork points left it 3-15 to 1-12 entering injury time.

Clare needed goals and got a second from Robyn Conway.   But they couldn’t manage more decisive majors despite getting chances in the added time and Cork held on to retain the Sile McNulty Cup.
