Clarecastle/Ballyea 3-16 Broadford 5-6

Clarecastle/Ballyea amalgamation secured victory over Broadford in the Division 3 final in Cratloe on Saturday evening with a four point margin. Doireann Murphy got her first point from a placed ball followed by a second point from play giving her team the perfect start.

Diandra O’Connell added a goal immediately afterwards. Broadford soon got off the mark with Rachel O’Connell scoring 2-2. Chloe Devitt responded with a goal while Murphy pointed two ’45 for her side. Scores from Moya Marsh McMahon (0-1) and Susan O’Shea (0-1) gave Broadford a two point lead at the interval.

The amalgamation started the second half comfortably with Doireann Murphy causing the most treat after moving to centre forward scoring (0-8 2f). Grace Russell and Diandra O’Connell kept the winners scoreboard ticking over with one point each before Broadford pointed from a free in the 18th minute.

The Eastside fight back never stopped and scored a further 2-2 to their tally. Stella Quinlivan scored Clarecastle/Ballyea third goal which was enough to seal victory on the day. Others to impress for the winners were Suzy O’Shea, Ria Flanagan, Louise Griffin and Carol Browne.

After the game Captain Carol Browne was presented with the shield by Joe O’Donnell Chairperson of the Clare County Board.
