A strong second half performance has seen Sixmilebridge win through to the Quarter-Finals of the Clare Senior Hurling Championship, at the expense of defending champions Ballyea.

A tight first half, in which Alex Morey scored six points for the Bridge, saw the 2017 winners go into the dressing rooms with a two-point lead, 0-11 to 0-9.

But two quick fire goals soon after the break changed the game – first, Pa Mulready caught a pass from Conor Deasy, before a smart finish and then Brian Corry netted after good work from Alex Morey.

While Ballyea battled gamely from that point on, the Bridge were in control and won on a final scoreline of 2-21 to 0-17.

Earlier, in the first part of a double header from Cusack Park, Crusheen overcame Feakle on a disappointing day for many East Clare sides.

Feakle had actually led at half-time, when a Ray Bane goal saw them take a 1-13 to 1-10 lead in at half time.

However, they only added one point to their total in the second half, as Crusheen eased to a 2-20 to 1-14 win.
