Ennis Man Vying To Be First Irishman To Break Seven Hour 100km Run

An Ennis man is hoping to become the first Irish person to run 100 kilometres in under seven hours.

Ennis Track athlete and Irish record holder Keith Whyte made the claim ahead of next month’s Energia 24 hour 100 kilometre race in Belfast’s Victoria Park, on June 23rd.

Whyte has recovered from hip injury which has kept him away from competitive racing for 21 months.


He has previously raced 100 kilometres in seven hours and two minutes, and says he hopes next month to break the sub-seven hour mark:
