Along with his brother Sean, Podge will now play for their father Colm with the county footballers, and says he understands why the hurling management were unhappy for the current arrangement to continue.

Separately, Clonlara manager Kevin Galvin insists the favourites tag won't weigh heavy on his side's shoulders this weekend.

They take on Crusheen in tomorrow evening’s Senior Hurling semi-final, looking to reach a first county final since 2009.

Ahead of the game, Galvin has said they’re taking nothing for granted.
