3 Clare men are to be given a civic reception by Clare county council this evening for their achievements in the world of sport.

Clonlara’s Marcus Horan and Killaloe’s Anthony Foley are to be recognised for their achievements in Rugby.

Scariff native Cathal Murphy will be honoured for his medal winning performance at the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games.

Both Horan and Foley are 2 time Heineken Cup Champions with Marcus Horan becoming the first Clare man to achieve a 6 nations grand slam.

Scariff man Cathal Murphy was a silver medal winner in Alpine Skiing Novice Giant Slalom  at the World Winter games in February.

Tonight’s reception at Aras Chontae an Chlair at 6:30pm is the highest honour that can be bestowed by a local authority.
