Two points from full forward Gary Cooney in the closing stages saw the Banner through after a pulsating game in Cusack Park.

In a game played in difficult conditions, it was Limerick who settled best to open up a 4 point lead inside the opening 12 minutes.

Clare responded with four points from Tiernan Agnew to level the game with ten minutes left in the half, with the Sixmilebridge man finishing with a personal tally of 0-10.

The sides then traded scores until the break to go in level at 0-7 each, a sign of things to come.
With 6 minutes to play, Clare led by 0-14 to 0-11, but three in a row for Limerick saw the game headed for extra time.

The sides again swapped scores to head for the break level at 0-16 each, with Limerick then hitting the opening score of the final period.

From here Clare dug deep to grind out the win, with a point from Aidan McCarthy and Cooney’s double seeing the Banners minors join the seniors for Munster Final day.

They’ll find out their opponents tonight when defending All Ireland champions Tipperary face Cork in Semple Stadium.
