Clare To Play Dublin In Relegation Final

Clare’s hurlers will play Dublin in the relegation final of the National Hurling League.

The Banner, who are the competition’s defending champions, won’t hold onto their title following on from today’s defeat to Waterford.

The Banner led for large portions of the game at Cusack Park, with Podge Collins scoring their only goal of the game in the first half.

While proceedings were tight, Waterford fought back with Tom Devine scoring a crucial goal with five minutes to go.

This was key as the Deise held on in injury time to win by two points on a final scoreline of Clare 1-22 Waterford 2-21.

The Banner will now meet Dublin.

It’s after Dublin lost to Kilkenny by 2-20 to 1-16 at Parnell Park

Kilkenny and Waterford both progressed to the quarter-finals.

They’ll be joined by Cork who edged already quaified Tipperary by 0-26 to 3-16 at Pairc Ui Rinn.

In Division 1B, Already promoted Wexford claimed their fifth straight win as they defeated Laois by 2-24 to 2-20 at Innovate Wexford Park.

Galway finish second in the Division after they beat Limerick by 0-24 to 1-18 at the Gaelic Grounds.

Elsewhere, it finished Kerry 2-16 Offaly 1-21at Austin Stack Park.
