Clare interest in Cross Country Championships in Derry this weekend.

Athletics Ireland " National Inter Counties Cross Country Championships will take place in Oakgrove College, Gransha, Derry this Sunday along with the All-Ireland even Ages from U/12, U/14, U/16, U/18 boys and girls races along with the Junior and Senior Mens and Ladies, with a starting time of 11. 30am.

The Junior Mens and U/18’s boys 6000m race starts at 1. 25pm, this is followed by the Senior Ladies 8000m at 1. 50pm, the third race the Junior Ladies over 4000 metres at 2 . 30pm with the final race of the day will be the Senior Mens 10,000 metres at 2 . 50pm.

 

Clare will be very well represented in all grades, the first of the senior races Clare will be looking to Irish International Athlete Orla O’Mahoney from Ennis who is now working in Dublin and running with Raheny Shamrocks A.C. Dublin along with Eimear Power (wife of Seamus Power) Sportsworld A. C. Dublin now running in the Clare colours  and she finished 8th in the Dublin Senior Cross Country Championships and all going well both will looking for a twelve performance.

 

The big race of the afternoon will be the Senior Mens race over 10,000 meters, with the Clare Cross Country Champion and the nine times Inter Counties Cross Country Champion Seamus Power Kilmurry Ibrickane/North Clare, Rory Chesser Ennis Track coming from London along with the man in form Sean Hehir from O C Mills and running with Rathfarnham A. C. in Dublin where he finish in 6th place in the Dublin County Senior Cross Country Championships, Kenneth Rodgers St Johns and James Mc Intyre Olympic Harriers and this is one of the best ever Clare Teams going to Derry.

 

 

"All-Ireland  Juvenile".

The All-Ireland Juvenile evan ages Cross Country Championships the first race will be the girls U/12 and the Clare Team will be looking to the Munster Silver Medal Winner Caoimhie Harvey, St Johns along with Emma Mc Mahon St Marys, Laura Egan Kilmihil, Elaine Shannon Kilmurry Ibrickane/North Clare, and in the boys U/12’s Aidan Mc Carthy St Cronans will lead the Clare Challenge along with Patrick O Rourke Kilmurry Ibrickane/North Clare, Jamie Roche Ennis Track and a very strong Kilmurry Ibrickane/North Clare Team looking for a National Title.

 

The Girls U/16’s two very talented athletes Munster Gold and Silver Medal winners Jean and Niamh Clancy St Johns will be looking to a top ten placing along with Niamh Markham Ennis Track and Laura Egan Kilmihil and in the boys U/16’s Ian Slobody Kilmihil will be bidding for a top twelve and will get great support from Stephan Rooney and Declan Martin both Ennis Track.

 

The Girls U/18’s Munster Champion Aishling Darcy Ennis Track and Amy O Donoghue Meelick and Emerald A.C. will take some beating with find of the Imogen Cotter Ennis Track and Harriett Flynn Shannon making up a strong Clare Team.

 

The Boys U/18’s is packed with talent from Ennis Track and St Johns with Jake O Regan St Johns looking to a top ten these Nationals along with Darragh Lynch, Adian Kearney both Ennis Track.
