Clare’s Senior Footballers have come from behind to beat Kildare in the second round of the Allianz National Football League.

Colm Collins side needed a win against the Lilywhites this afternoon to return to form after a disappointing one-point defeat to Westmeath last time out.

Kildare were the most dominant side throughout the first half and went into the break with a 0-6 to 0-4 lead over the home side.

However, a string of scores from Gearoid O’Brien helped Clare pull back the gap – and they finally found themselves level on eight points apiece 10 minutes into the second half.

Captain Eoin Cleary and Keelan Sexton got efforts over the bar as they extended their lead – but couldn’t shake a Kildare side who were intent on leaving Cusack Park with two points.

In the end, Collins’ side did just enough to hold them back – and ran out 0-11 to 0-10 winners.
