Clare steadied the ship with two points each from Fidelma Marrinan and Eimear Keane along with a Ciara Hickey free saw the sides level once more.

The Clare goal came midway through the half with Caoimhe Harvey playing a one two with Ciara Hickey before hammering the ball home to send the Banner into the lead.

It wasn’t long lived though as the Royals stormed through for a second green flag five minutes later, and it saw them ahead at the break by 2-6 to 1-7.

A dramatic second period began with Ciara Hickey slotting home a penalty for Clare after a foul on Catriona Callinan, but Meath hit back for a goal of their own to take the lead once more.

Harvey then took the game by the scruff of the neck and marched through to bury her second goal of the game, but yet again, the Royals responded with another green flag to leave the game level inside the closing minutes.

It was Fidelma Marrinan who would prove to be the match winner for Clare, as her late score saw them crowned champions for the second time since 2013 at the grade.
