Clare Camogie – Broadford 7-9 Clarecastle/Ballyea 3-8

Broadford greater eye for goals saw them brush off the challenge of Clarecastle/Ballyea played in Clarecastle last Friday evening. It was a closer affair than the score line suggest. Clarecastle/Ballyea opened the scoring in the first three minutes with a goal from Diandra O’Connell which was followed by a point from Lauren Tuohy.

Broadford got off the mark with a green flag in the tenth minute followed by a white flag. The home side kept the scoreboard ticking over in the first quarter with a brace of points from Lauren Tuohy. That lead was soon wiped out when Broadford scored four goals and a point in the final quarter.

Clarecastle/Ballyea added a second goal from Grace Russell which was quickly followed from a well taken free from Tuohy. At half time the winners held a five points advantage with the score 5-2 to 2-5.

Broadford started the second half adding a further brace of points in the opening five minutes. The host team battled hard adding a further three points from O’ Connell(2) and Tuohy (1).However it was the visitors that pushed on adding a second half tally of 2-7 .

In the closing minutes despite good play from Ria Flanagan who set up Diandra O’Connell for a late goal for Clarecastle/Ballyea, it was Broadford who were deserving winners.
