Clare ladies footballers’ Intermediate championship hopes remain alive this evening after their comfortable victory over Laois earlier.

James Murrihy’s side were quick out of the blocks in Clonmel, with goals from Chloe Moloney, Niamh O Dea and Grainne Nolan helping them into an eleven point lead after just 15 minutes.

Laois attempted to find their way back into the game in the second half, but further goals from Moloney and O Dea helped the Banner to a 5-7 to 1-11 win.

In the other game in the group, Kildare comfortably beat Sligo – Clare must now beat the Connacht side next week and hope Laois can beat the Lilywhites to have any chance of progressing to the last four.

Former Clare player and Cooraclare club woman Ann Marie Callinan says it was important for the side to bounce back after last week’s defeat.
