Chairman: Completing Club Fixtures in Calendar Year “Unrealistic”

The chairman of Clare GAA says proposals to move the All Ireland Club Finals to December will have a negative affect on intercounty teams.

Micheal McDonagh made the comments after last nights meeting of Clare GAA heard that no certainty can be given on the dates for Clare club championship fixtures other than Round One.

Delegates voted in favour of beginning the 2015 club hurling championship on the weekend of May 30th, with the football championship underway on July 25th.

McDonagh says he doesn't believe plans to finish club championships within the calender year are realistic.

The meeting also heard the draws for the 2015 Clare Football and Hurling Championships will be made on Monday February 16th.
