Clare’s minor hurling boss believes straight knockout hurling at underage level may stall the development of underage players.

The Banner are making their final preparations to take on Cork in a Munster quarter final this afternoon at Semple Stadium.

The round robin format of the last number of seasons has been shelved this year as a result of COVID-19.

The prize on offer for the winner is a semi final clash against current provincial holders Limerick.

Manager Brian Coffey says he accepts the knockout situation, but it’s far from ideal for young players.
