Playing with the wind in the second half, the Marble side missed one shot at goal before Julieanne Malone found the back of the net in the 40th minute and put them ahead.

Six second-half points from Chloe Morey – five of which came from frees – helped the underdogs claw back the deficit and take the lead, although a last second point from Denise Gaule left the sides on seventeen points a piece when the final whistle blew.

The final score at Nowlan Park was Clare 3-8, Kilkenny 1-14.
