Retailers Say Customers Who Won’t Wear Masks Cause Chaos

Retail industry representatives say ‘mayhem’ is being caused by people who refuse to wear masks in shops. Retailers have been threatened with legal action if they refuse to serve someone who is not wearing a mask if that customer claims they have a disability or experience ‘extreme distress’ at having to wear a mask; both of which entitle someone not to comply with the rule.

The Convenience Stores and Newsagents Association are calling on the Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly, to urgently change the law which they feel is protecting ‘anti-maskers’ and to implement a system to identify those who cannot wear masks for genuine medical reasons.

On Tuesday’s Morning Focus, Gavin Grace spoke to Vincent Jennings, CEO of the Convenience Stores and Newsagents Association.
