Removal Of Statues By Protestors – Fair or Foul?

Anti-racism protesters are pulling down statues of slave traders around the world in objection to what they represent.

Among the monuments causing controversy here in the West of Ireland is one of Christopher Columbus in Galway – a counterpart statue of the explorer was torn down in Virginia in the US earlier this week.

Some of these statues are being preserved for museums to mark the living history of the Black Lives Matter movement. But is this the right approach?
