Ryanair has announced it’s to close its bases in Shannon and Cork for the winter. The company is blaming this on “increased flight restrictions imposed by EU Governments” – including Ireland. They say this has caused forward bookings to weaken for the remainder of 2020 and is cutting overall capacity to 40% of last year’s levels. 55 Ryanair staff there will be temporarily laid off.

On Thursday’s Morning Focus, Gavin Grace spoke to Fianna Fáil Senator, Timmy Dooley, Independent TD Michael McNamara and CEO of Shannon Chamber, Helen Downes.
