Since taking a dip during the recession, the number of people choosing to do an apprenticeship is slowly increasing and it’s estimated that around 2% of school leavers take this path.
Atlantic Aviation, based in Shannon are one company who are promoting apprenticeships.
Their CEO Conor Flanagan, who started in the company as an apprentice, along with current apprentice Ben Lucas, spoke to Gavin.
