New HSE Laws Negatively Impacting Family From Sixmilebridge

A Sixmilebridgde family are without home nursing care for a seriously ill young child, pending the ironing out of concerns over new regulations introduced by the HSE this year.

10-year-old Jordan Perez has spinal muscular atrophy, which is a degenerative disease of the muscles.

Jordan’s family are concerned about a new regulation introduced in care plans by the HSE that states that a parent must be home at all times if nursing staff are also present in the home.

The new regulation is called the ‘in loco parentis’ clause and is causing hassle for many parents across the country with ill children.
