The concept of Men’s sheds has taken off in Ireland – but have you heard of a women’s shed? Well Mná Ag Gaire was established in June of this year and will open their doors to the public on January 8th.
Their unique facility combines a regular women’s shed with a digital hub so they can offer a creative community space to meet, share skills, combat loneliness and also support marginalised women in Clare who experience inequalities through a lack of access to technology. The group will be able to deliver training to their members in the same premises as women can come to drink coffee or have a chat while sewing away!
Mná Ag Gaire will be hosting an online quiz on the 28th of November to raise awareness and funding and on Tuesday’s Morning Focus, Gavin Grace spoke to CEO Hilary Tonge about the shed.
