Local centenary commemorations mark Clare’s involvement in the War of Independence

We’ve been marking a number of centenary anniversaries in Clare of events which took place during the War of Independence.

On Thursday’s Morning Focus, Gavin Grace spoke firstly to Paul Minihan ahead of a Zoom lecture this evening on the Moanreel Ambush and his relative John Minihan’s involvement.

Gavin also spoke to Eoin Shanahan ahead of a wreath laying ceremony at Doonbeg on Saturday to mark the anniversary of the murder of Willie Shanahan and Michael McNamara by the British Army. Eoin reflected on his connection to Willie Shanahan.
