Lahinch Golf Club Tipped To Host Irish Open

Talks in the region have been suggesting that the Irish Open could be coming to Lahinch.

The Irish Independent carried a report this week that former European Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley has recommended Lahinch as the host of the event next year, when he will play host to the event.

The Dubliner won the South of Ireland competition at Lahinch in 1991, and feels it would be ideal preparation for the Open which takes place at Royal Portrush a fortnight later.

It’s understood that the European Tour will visit the course next month as part of their assessment of the course.

If the event were to come to North Clare, it could attract an estimated 10,000 people per day.
