Investigations Continue Into Tragic Migrant Deaths

On Morning Focus today we discussed the investigations which are continuing to take place into the tragic deaths of the 39 migrants who died in a lorry in Essex last week.

Sarah Clancy, North Clare Poet, PPN representative, Eugene Drennan of Spa Transport and Burlelani Mcfaco, Spokesperson of Movement of Asylum seekers in Ireland, joined us to discuss the tragedy.

It’s feared that six members of the one family were among the 39 people who died,
it’s believed the victims may be Vietnamese and efforts are underway to identify them.
A 25-year-old man from Armagh appeared in court in Chelmsford yesterday charged with their manslaughter. Maurice Robinson, who is also charged with conspiracy to traffic people and money laundering, was remanded in custody to appear again next month.
