Haemochromatosis

Nora Kelly (Ennis) and Mary Flynn (Cratloe) joined John Cooke in studio to discuss their experience with Haemochromatosis which is the overload of Iron in the system and can cause tiredness, joint problems, and bruising if not managed properly.

Both ladies explained that the biggest hurdle with this condition was to diagnose it in the first place, with many people having it and not realizing. It is a hereditary condition, that can be detected and managed by taking a regular blood test. Referred to as a Celtic condition with Irish people the largest population of carriers of the gene.
