Gavin Grace spoke with Ollie Hayes of Monegall on what it was like to have a Presidential visit.

In May 2011, then US President, Barack Obama returned to Moneygall, the home of the president’s great great great grandfather.

He and his wife Michelle were met by cheering crowds and brought to Ollie Hayes’ pub to sample the Guinness and the warm welcome. He spent around 20 minutes chatting to members of the Hayes family and their clientele, and he told them about having his first ever pint of proper Guinness. We heard from Ollie Hayes – Owner of Ollie Hayes Bar in Monegall on what is it like to have a president in his pub.
