Fine Gael Deputy TD Joe Carey marks two years of Leo Varadkar as Taoiseach

This month sees the second anniversary of the election of Leo Varadkar as the 14th Taoiseach of Ireland.

His youth and the fact that he’s openly gay meant his appointment made global headlines. Since June of 2017, the Taoiseach has had major wins, including the passing of the referendums on the 8th amendment and on divorce; but some critics cite his infatuation with spin and celebrity; as well as debacles like the National Broadband Plan, the Children’s Hospital and the worsening issues in health and housing.
