Today on Morning Focus, Michael McCarthy, General Manager of Falls Hotel and Spa in Ennistymon joined us in studio as the Hotel & Spa announced last week that they have become the first and only hotel in the country to generate power from its own hydroelectricity plant.
The plant took two years to complete and harnesses energy from the River Inagh that flows alongside the hotel. It’s been in place for a year now and the hotel estimates that their energy consumption has reduced by 550 tonnes of carbon – or three return trips, by car to the moon!
