Today on Morning Focus, Dr Siobhán O’ Connor, Interim Service Manager of Clare Haven, joined us in studio as domestic violence victims are to be remembered in Ennis this evening.

A candlelight walk to commemorate the women who have been killed in County Clare by their partners or exes is to take place this evening. The event organised by the charity Clare Haven, it will be a sombre reflective walk from the Garda Station to the Court House in Ennis, starting at 6.30pm. It’s part of the annual 16 Days of Violence initiative.
It comes days after Garda Commissioner Drew Harris stated that figures surrounding domestic violence are “truly shocking”, that they “deserve more coverage” and called domestic violence “one of the least prosecuted crimes, and one of the greatest threats to family life.”
