Corofin Mother Shares Reaction To Daughter’s Shock Diagnosis Of Rare Joint Condition

Last December, a Corofin mother got the call that every parent dreads.

Anne O’Gorman’s daughter had had an accident and had sustained serious injuries – so serious that the ligaments supporting her head had been torn.

The incident happened in the playground, leaving Anne Marie baffled as to how ten-year-old Zara could have sustained such a serious injury.

As they went through the treatment, a more sinister reason emerged and Zara has very recently been diagnosed with the rare and debilitating Ehler Danlos syndrome.

The community has rallied around Anne Marie and Zara to raise the funds the little girl will need.

Last week Anne called to Clare FM studios and spoke with Morning Focus producer, Fiona McGarry. She began by outlining what happened to Zara.
