Concerns Intensify Over Impact Of The US’s Strike On Syria

This weekend (14th and 15th April 2018) senior European figures backed the military action taken by the US, UK and France, who launched missile strikes in Syria in response to an alleged gas attack in the town of Douma.

Today (16th April), the Tanaiste says the EU will examine what it can do to bring a peaceful end to the conflict in Syria.

The Council of Ministers will meet today to take stock of relations with Russia.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that further Western attacks on Syria would bring “chaos” to world affairs, as Washington has said it is preparing to increase pressure on Russia with new economic sanctions.
